So...Medabots anybody?

I'm like "Wait, wasn't there some other kiRAB anime besides Pokemon and Digimon I used to watch?"

You know, this is where I'd make the long post describing the show and whether I liked it or I hated it but....to be honest I really cannot remeraber too much about this one. I remeraber I used to watch it and that these days, I'd compare the dub to something out of Bo-Bobo and that I used to think it was totally weak compared to Digimon but other than that, not really too much.

I do remeraber Mr. Referee was probably the best thing for my childhood since Master Asia.

Any other memories of this show.

(Oh yeah, in the original japanese, Naruto=Metabee. Believe it)

EDIT: For comparison, this is the original opening. It's addicting as hell.
Dub change I like: Why the hell is it called "Medarot?" That doesn't even make sense.

I remeraber watching this show when I was younger and wishing I had seen it more often. I don't have any interest in it these days unfortunately.

Ive seen it completely several times, i saw it last a few months ago in fact, this is one of my favorite Anime series of all time. When i was a kid this was the show i would never miss if it was on. I prefer the English opening.

Yeah, I feel a little bad for not watching it when it was on TV, but come on, 4kiRAB with their yugioh and pokemon and whoever with Digimon killed this and didn't give it a chance. Not to mention the opening turned people away within one second (I am sure it is a good song, but there isn't a need for the arragant begining).

Fox KiRAB and Saban had Digimon.

And yeah, the opening was just a smidge much. I just saw the Japanese opening and it's pretty superior in all ways. I remeraber loving this show when it was on, especially the interaction between Ikki and Medabee.

I remeraber watching this and was entertained by it. I thought the concept of kiRAB controlling robots and fighting with the robots was a nice concept for a show like this. I was mostly annoyed with how every chance I could watch it, I would miss the last 5 minutes of the show due to my bus appearing at the time. I remeraber buying the video game for it as well and enjoying it. Still wished I had the game.

The opening for the dub was actually mediocre, listening to it, but the first second can turn you away. As for the competition, it never stood a chance to what 4kiRAB had. In addition, WB had all the classics, and what did Metabots's channel have? It never stood a chance, which is why the finale never aired, as I have heard.

What's wrong with the Medabots theme? Its no worse than the Digimon one for sure. I like it myself.

The Japanese opening is indeed addictive. BAM BAM BAM! BAM BAM BAM!

Medabots was dubbed by Nelvana and the first season was aired by Fox KiRAB. I taped it along with Tamers back in the day

I never saw the second part/season in its entirety but I saw most of the third season when it aired on Teletoon back then. Even got the finale recorded somewhere. The last scenes where touching ^_^

I have a BlackBeetle card somewhere too from when they tried to release a card game XD

I had a bunch of toys, more than I did for Digimon in fact (though the Medabots toys were easier to find at the time) and the Medabots AX Rokusho version GBA game. Peppercat with Neutranurse's head and the Bear medal (to recharge the head part) is teh uber-cheese in that game I have this cool six inche poseable Metabee...wish I had gotten the Rokusho model they had too >< I have a bunch of the smaller ones you could take apart and mix and match. I got Whitesword, Foxuno, that one that can turn into a car, Rokusho, multiple Metabee from two-packs, Mega Emperor, Phoenix, Cyandog, ArcBeetle with a metallic sheen to him, etc. Neat little guys.

The sho was spiffy and pretty awesome ^^ and the animation was great. I don't get why someone would say it doesn't look good. It has a minimalist approach to details but it has very smooth movement. It could be pretty impressive in fight scenes.

I even wrote a few fics and was fairly well know in the early days of the FF.net Medabots section

I still am in awe that Jetix aired practically every episode of the series...and then canceled it ONE episode before the finale aired.

Enjoyed it back when it was on Fox KiRAB, but lost interest after the first season or so.

And Ikki had one of the most earbleed-inducing voices I've ever heard in an English dub.

Medabots was an enjoyable show. The best part is that it didn't take itself too seriously so the villains and antaganists were allowed to be completely goofy, and even the local badasses had their moments of stupidity.

Mr. Referee's ability to appear anywhere a match was about to begin was hilarious, as was Ikki's inability to analyze a situation completely before jumping to conclusions.

Medabee annoyed me to no end though. Stupid thing had an attitude problem and a huge ego.

I liked Metabee he was fun.

Ikki: Metabee! what are you doing here?
Metabee: Signing autographs, for my fans!

Dr. Aki: *boasting about his innovations and inventions*
Brass: He's talking about himself...
Neutranurse: ...in the THIRD PERSON.
Metabee: Man! Metabee hates that!

I absolutely adored this show, I think I liked it even more than Pokemon and Digimon back in the day.

It was just so much fun. It corabined frantic energy and humor and still managed to get epic battles. The World Championship was probably my favorite tournament arc of any series. The show could just flow between hilarious and intense just like that. I thought the fights were some of the best in the genre actually. And I loved the art and all, it was really fluid.

The second series wasn't so good though. The show lost its humor and pretty much all that made it great. Generally ditching most of your cast for three unlikeable side characters isn't a good idea. I mean, without Mr. Referee and Space Medafighter X, I don't think you have much of a show left. Those two were my favorites by far.

At least the series finale aired here though.

I loved the art too. It was a very distinct look if you compare it to all the generic Toyetic show from Digimon to the most recent ones. They all take the same basic design cues while Medabot went with this stylistic approach where there wasn't more details than what was needed. Really likeable.

Yeah the second serie just wasn't as fun. Though we did get Nae who wasn't a bad character and I liked BlackBeetle as a sort of rival, neat design too. It wasn't quite as epic either. And unless I'm wrong they got rid of the Screws! Those guys were fun...I always wished Peppercat had more action and lines she was the coolest!

I didn't like how they just obviated the Medaforce just to make the baddies look stronger and get Metabee a new body. They should have instead developped it into a more refined energy power.

Metabee with Medaforce blades? Heck yeah!

YEAH! This show was awesome. Still is! I went back and watched it recently. It's never too serious, it's got some cool action, some great characters, and the music is SOOO... 90s!

I bought the first season box set, and what a horrible piece of junk that was. It had wrong cover art; season 3 art on season 1. I gave it to my little bros. I'm planning on getting the singles bundled together from ebay or something. I'd like to have the show on my shelf because it is a cherished childhood memory.

I also had the toys and always wanted the GBA games.

Frankly, I think the show should've ended with the World Championship. I mean we learned the true origins of the Medabots, we found out what happened to Doctor Hoshi, Doctor Meda-Evil left Earth with Rokusho. Heck, they even hinted that the Alien boy was actually one of the original Medabots who never changed his flesh to metal.
