So I've always been a republican

but I'm seriously starting to consider voting Obama.

I'm 24, make 30k a year working for a non-profit and have great benefits as is. I'm looking at gong to grad school in 2 years.

It seems like where I'm at Obama's policies will benefit me more... ultimately I care more about what works for ME right now than how the election affects anyone else.

I don't care about abortion, gay rights, or any of that other garbage that the gov't shouldn't be involved in.

Can anyone give me a reason why I should vote for either party given where I'm at? My family and g/f are die hard republican and would give me alot of shit if I even said I was thinking of voting Obama.

ditto
Republican... voting for Obama.
McCain's no Social Conservative. He won't lower the deficits anymore than Bush did, heck Reagan was his hero. So then, do I want to spend my money on war and defense... crap like that, or health care?
McCain = spending future money
Obama = spending current money

McCain and the Reaganomic retards need a wakeup statement to get away from that and social conservatives.

i think anyone claiming to be a die-hard anything is looking at things the wrong way, but islanderSS you seem to at least be taking things in the right direction in one way. by being open minded to both candidates, at least you aren't shutting your mind to what can be the better candidate. i'm not saying either one is better than the other, but voting for the party instead of the candidate is stupid IMHO.

i know too many die hard republicans who are still unwilling to admit that George W Bush has a horrible administration. i won't give him all of the credit for how things are, but everything went down the toilet once he got in office. yeah, you may lean more one way or the other or even find that you are much more republican than democrat (or vice versa), but you can't give up your own intelligence and the ability to think on your own.

My G/F is one of those, and it drives me nuts sometimes.

I'm not interested in nationalized healthcare, but don't want my benefits taxed either. Both I think have shitty plans for healthcare.

I dont care about gay marriage. I don't care about abortion because as a man, I get no say in the matter regardless however the more stupid people I meet the more I believe they should have been aborted.

I'm in the same situation you are in (not giving a fuck about most 'issues') Except I'll be making 6 figures (combined) in less than two years and adamantly oppose socialization of basically everything

I wanna vote for Obama because McCain really wouldn't bring anything new to the table imo, plus there is the risk of him dying and Palin taking over. His negative campaigns didn't do much for me either. I also wanna punish the Republican party for giving us Bush and more importantly for railroading against Ron Paul.

My biggest worry about the Obama presidency the fact he might get 1-2 liberal Judges in the Supreme Court and his ignorance of the 2nd amendment.

You want to punish the republican party for their lack of support for one of the only true conservatives left, by voting for a very liberal democrat? Should convince them to give it a go

99% of the stuff obama claims cannot be accomplished by the president

nationalized healthcare is crap to begin with and does not need to be in the US

and whats your beef with Reagan?

Reagan is a moron, and he started the deficit spending at levels which have come to hurt the US.

We need nationalized health care, as it is the only way we will ever balance the budget.

Because the same people who have run public education - social security - welfare system - home loans (freddie/fanny) - We want them to run our health care.

Just fyi - Anyone who thinks voting a particular president will improve your life - you = idiot

Dems answer to special interest groups
Repubs answer to corporate interests

But hey - by all means vote in who you want.
