so i want to buy a used bike now what....

If I find a used bike in Wash State or Oregon, and I am standing in the seller's drive way, what do I do next?

Where do I go to check the title............VIN etc...register with some office?

.......I am planning to put the bike in my pickup and head out of these states........

I know what to do at my home location..not sure what is required in Wash or Oregon..

Get a bill of sale.
In my state the police check vin# before you can register the bike in your name.
Hell have the police check the vin before you buy if it makes you feel better.
 
Get the license plate number and vin. Call the local police non emergency number and tell them what you are doing and ask them to run the numbers. Then make sure the person selling the bike is the one on the title and there are no lien holders on it. If all is good then get a bill of sale and the signed title, notarized if required, to take back to your DMV. If the title isn't in the persons name make them get the title in their name before you buy it. It could turn into a real nightmare if you take a 3rd party title situation. Hope it works out for you.
 
I am planning to head to BC with the bike...may drive it back or put in the back of my pickup....



At the US Border they will also do a title check, but I'll need to get something in writing for myself also before I head north 72 hrs later....
