I am about to graduate and move into a job and also in the market for a new car in the next 2 or so years. I am also getting married this summer. I have score of 757 while my fiancee has a score of 685. Would it be more beneficial for me to apply alone for a car loan or to apply jointly with my fiancee?? I was just curious whether her lower score would hurt mine..

Yes, her lower score would affect a joint loan. Go it alone.

Just be careful and don't take on to much debt. As a young couple with brand new jobs you really don't want to burden yourself with high long term car debt.

Nothing wrong at all with buying a car but you don't need a brand new one and you don't need a long term committment to this debt. Find a low cost 2 or 3 year old car that makes you feel good that you can pay off in 3 years. Not a brand new car that will tie you to a payment book for 5 or 6 years.

McCoy is 100% correct on her score dragging you down.

I wanted to add this as well: Never sign on a car together until after wedding day occurs. Anything can happen between now and then, and it's very messy to try and get out of that when it comes to the car note. If you two break up, you're both still responsible for the car payment.
