so i saw a snake in my garden...?

it was about 2 or 3 feet long and about as big around as a garden hose. it was very light brown with no markings that i could see. i think that the edges of the scales might have been darker, with a thin lighter stripe down the sides, but other than that i think it was a solid color. i live in southern US. i didnt get a good look at the head or upper body. i really just want to know if its poisonous, and if i should keep my cats in, or what?
i checked all of those and they were all too dark. the one i saw was VERY light, almost flesh colored, only sandyer.

Check the brown snake (Storeria dekayi). Some milk snakes can be brownish, but they're usually blotched. There aren't any venomous snakes in the southeastern US that would have a solid, unblotched color.

Stripe down the side, not banded? Try going to Google images for Garter Snake, Ribbon Snake, or in particular Florida Garter Snake. If it looked like that, harmless.

The snake has more to fear from your cats than the other way around.

Brown Water snakes are pretty common in Southern US and are everywhere in Florida. They are really light brown and are not venomous. if you are anywhere near water(pond, lake, stream) that thats probably what it is. They will climb trees too.
