I think... ???

My sister has it, and I've noticed my throat is kinda sore the last week, just gave a good look at it in a lighted mirror and I can see the white spots that look kinda like strep.
But it's not strep, It's been there for like a week and a half now. I have strep all the time and it comes on in a hurry.

So Im thinking I've caught mono from my sis. And before you accuse me of making out with my sister, I made the out of character mistake of drinking after her a few weeks ago, and I think that's what did it.

But I feel kinda crappy... slight headache, slightly tired... But I dont really feel that bad at all? I wonder if it will get any worse than this? Im going to work like usual and everything else, I'm not too sick to work... and to top it all off me and my girlfriend JUST broke up. So I've been really depressed and mopey about that already... And by extension... I just gave her mono... :sad:

She's such a cool girl, I feel like an asshole now. :sad:
 
I already addressed that sir.

It can be transmitted by

1. Kissing
2. drinking/eating after people
3. coughing
4. sneezing
5. your mom

among other things.
 
Ahhh, Mononucleosis.

I had that in 7th grade. It wasn't so bad, I stayed out of school for two weeks. I watched General Hospital, and did jigsaw puzzles. Then I stayed half days in school for another two weeks. I milked it for all it was.

There were a few side effects that I could have gone without.
The constant low-grade fever made me hallucinate. I looked in on my hamster that was sitting in his tube with his butt hanging out. I thought it's head was cut off. I screamed and yelled. Scary.
I was tired a lot. At the age of 12.

Think of it this way: You gave her mono, AND the girl she was making out with behind your back. :thumbsup:
 
Congratulations, I've been trying to get mono for years. Although you got it from your sister (and I'll have you know, sir, that it's illegal in all 50 states), you are still a mack daddy (or maybe a mack brother?) in my book.

Why do people assume you can only get mono by kissing someone? You can get it from drinking from the same glass, eating from the same utensil or bowl, or you can even get it from both high stress and overworking your body. We all have mono floating around, but your body fights it until it's overstressed.

Heck I got it in summer camp. No one else got it. I found out I had it when I got home. I called up the people I had any contact with and they never got it.

So you may have gotten it from your sister if you had any contact with somethign she drank or ate. I'm not sure if you can catch it with any other form of contact, but I'd be careful when being around someone that you know has it.
 
is mono, when you have to eat antibiotics? (I'm not so good in english diseases,I mean those who are in english)

I've had it, I had a fever too I think. Was really tired, and when my brother and his friend came home and had this huge bag of candy they just threw the candy at me so they wouldnt get it also. I had to eat penicillin(sp?) I think. Honestly now when I think about it I'm not sure if it was that..maybe it was just fever..ops :happysad: but I'm quite sure though.
 
I wouldn't have let you have any of my candy. I'd probably let you give me mono too, considering of course, that you weren't my sister.
 
Antibiotics dont work on viral infections like mono. Other examples are HIV, influenza, the common cold, etc. You cant take penicillin and get rid of any of those, and mono is the same way.
