Well, seems like everyone else here had some comment about the girl so I won't focus on that. I'll focus more on your sleep issue. Have you tried taking a hot bath before sleeping? Maybe meditate a little? Both those can clear your head of the issues that come up. It takes practice though. Don't expect to try it in one or two nights and your head clears up. But you can try some deep breathing exercises to try to clear your mind as you just sit there and attempt to think of nothing but visioning a calming place like a field or mountain side, or whatever makes you feel calm. Focus on the picture that you have in your head. Any attempts by your mind to interrupt that with the negative thoughts you mentioned or otherwise, physically remove that image from your mind. Do this for about half an hour before you go to bed. Do this every night and you will find you will get more rest during your sleep. Your mind will start getting used to clearing itself before bedtime, and your body will just become more relaxed. If you break this cycle, it will not work.

Another thing you can do to help get to sleep is a sound machine. white noise, ocean, stream, rain, etc... Those sound machines are built to help keep night time thinkers more restful. Your mind will start to focus on those sounds. In some cases, you can mix the meditation and sound machines better by visioning the sound the machine makes. That way your mind will have an easier time focusing on the image and it'll be harder for it to wander off to other, more negative thoughts.

Getting better sleep should help your negative attitude too. Without good sleep, people find themselves depressed and out of focus. Your pessimistic attitude right now may just be due to bad sleep. Try out some of what I suggested and see if after you get some more restful sleep if you find you may have a more positive outlook on life.

I had ADD growing up meditation helped me a lot during the day too. I haven't meditated in a long time and I really want to get back in to it.
