So I bought this bike and...?

It was mountain bike, and I realized it wasn't the right fit for me. Part of the reason was cause I didn't take it for a long enough test run and he told me it would ride smoothly like a hybrid bike. I took it back an hour later after one ride to the local bike shop and the guy said he could exchange it in. I asked if it was possible to do a refund and he started making me feel like crap cause it was against his policy and he'd have to do extra book work and blah blah. I'm going to try out a different one that he recommended, but if I don't like it I'm pretty much going to want a refund. I'm still a newbie at bikes and he kindof tricked me into thinking the mountain bike was going to be enough for me, so am I the douche bag for wanting the refund if it comes down to that?

He is the one that lied and told you that it would be like a hybrid. He should have know better then that. If you don't like the next bike demand a refund and that he miss represented the bike. If you paid by check or credit card stop the payment. You still may find the correct bike, make sure you tell him what exactly to want to do with it.

I would trade the bike if you don't like it. Remember, you're the customer and its your choice to pick which one bike suits you best, not what the seller tells you. The seller doesn't know much about you, yet you do. You know what you like for comfort on a bike. Keep exchanging the bike if you don't like it, just make sure you don't damage any of the structure of the bike or else the seller won't accept it. If the seller gets annoyed, you have the right to complain, you're a serious customer wanting a bike, that's all.
