So, how long until someone figures out if you can bypass the 30 bucks a month?

I have wifi literally everywhere in my college town, so I really don't want to blow 30 bucks a month for 3g. If there is a way to get past that, I want the iPhone NOOOOow. If not, I might have to pass.

So?
 
I have ATT internet and they have TONS of places that offer wifi for free for the plan I pay at home. You might want to check with your ISP to see if they have any Wifi spots.
 
Couldnt you buy a non-pda type of phone, change your service to get rid of data, then put that sim card in the iPhone? I use the sim out of my iPhone in a throw away flip phone from time to time.
 
You might not even have to do that. I have a Treo 750, and all I did was call ATT and tell them I use my old (insert older non pda phone model here) most of the time and swap sims. I just want the media max package. No problems for the past year or so. $20/month for unlimited data vs $40 or $45 for the pda data.
 
if you don't need 3g why not just buy a 2g from everybody trying to sell theres, you're not missing out on anything if you don't want 3g.
