So how is the infamous boot camp penicillin shot to the rear?

It hurts like hell and your whole butt cheek hurts for like 4 days. And you get a really huge bruise.
 
I know some people don't get it because they're allergic, others say it hurts like hell, and some say they don't even feel it until the next day. I've even seen that some people said they give you a pill now instead. (that one I'm not so sure on)
So what are your honest opinions/stories on it?
