So, Hear Me Out

I'm actually looking to purchase my first unlocked cell phone. So, that automatically means you all know I'm looking for a GSM cell phone. However, I'm stuck on which phone to buy. Maybe y'all can give me some suggestions.? Here are the requirements.

1. One of these manufacturers: Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, or HTC
2. Feature phone or smartphone (if smartphone, OS has to be Windows Mobile/Phone 6.x or Symbian)
3. Price range: About $80 - about $800.
4. Has to work with AT&T (and if you find a phone with Wi-Fi and 3G support for AT&T, don't hesitate to post it).
5. QWERTY keyboard + touchscreen is a plus, but if it's either or (i.e. QWERTY keyboard w/o touchscreen or touchscreen w/QWERTY keyboard) that's fine too.

I look forward to hearing some suggestions Howard Forums. I know you guys can suggest me a good phone.

Treo Pro is a solid device...it had all of you're requirements actually. Its marketed by Palm, but HTC built it.

One of the negatives might be it runs Windows Mobile 6.1....but you could flash it to 6.5 if you really wanted.
 
Out of all the mobile OSes I've used, Symbian and WinMo are my favorites and I've used them extensively and I'm familiar with both. I can't jump on board with the Android train because fragmentation seems to be a huge problem and webOS is actually good, but I'm kind of waiting to see what HP does with Palm's webOS in terms of cell phones before I settle with a Palm Pre Plus with AT&T.
 
Are you comfortable with AT&T's smartphone plans, or would you like to pay smartphone data prices or be exempt from a data plan altogether?
 
I'm fine with AT&T's smartphone plans. I was thinking of switching to Nation Unlimited and the Smartphone Bundle (unlimited talk, text, and data for about $120 a month isn't bad to be since I can afford it).
 
I'd strongly recommend Android, as Symbian and WinMo are dead ends. And suffer just as much fragmentation, you just don't notice it because there aren't developers for it.
 
I just can't seem to be pulled in by Android. Symbian is still alive and kicking because it's obviously still the leader in mobile OSes, Windows Phone 6.x has been good to me and I'm eagerly awaiting Windows Phone 7. webOS is also amazing, but I'm waiting for new hardware from HP-Palm. Android just doesn't capture me. Not even Sense UI, Motoblur, TouchWiz for Android, etc. can pull me in.
 
As you wish. Just know that you're hamstringing yourself by insisting on two dead end OS's. Symbian is the leader by shipping thousands of low end handsets to developing countries, not in inovation, developer draw, or smartphone margins.

And WinMo7 is a complete break, so WinMo 6.5 is DEAD. Aside from XDA cooking some ROMS waiting for other stuff to come out, WinMo isn't alive until the holidays.
 
Well, Symbian is still alive and kicking and I'm very excited for Windows Phone 7 in the future. But like with most OSes, there will be bugs, but I can't wait to see it in action.!
