So ABC news just showed a female college student from Ohio talking to Obama

I agree. I believe people need to take personal responsiblity. But, I think people are being unreasonable with attacking this girl. Most 19 year olds have not been educated on personal finance and 25k is a lot of money from someone that age. I think that would overwhelm a lot of people that age.

I work in financial services and know first hand that people around that age know very little about loans, debt, and money in general. They dont teach enough of that in school.

I think as she gets older and realizes how much money she will make, she will realize its not that big of a deal and get over it.

That's the problem with this generation, they expect things.

Participation ribbons when she was younger, and she is used to being treated special, now its the real world and she is wrecked, grow up bitch

And she can learn the hard way if she hasn't educated herself on the ramifications of taking out a huge loan.

There is no justification for looking (begging?) at taxpayers to bail HER out of the mess that SHE created HERSELF.

Roughly 100k here... Only got 15k left to go

I'm fucking sick about hearing people cry about their debt... YOU AGREED TO PAY IT BACK WHEN YOU TOOK THE LOAN, STFU.

shit for your RN its only a 2 year program so at the most she's looking at 50k if she follows through with it right and if she picks up an extra day a week that would be an extra 25k a year boo hoo im in nursing and im broke as fuck too

I'm not seeing how people can bitch so much about $20-30k if they're gonna be making 50k a year when they're done with school. You should have no problem paying that off in 2 years, while still living relatively comfortably. Let's say you're spending $1000 a month rent/utilities, $200 a month on car insurance, $350 a month on health insurance, and $200 a month on food, $100 a month on gas, $100 a month on internet/cable, and you still give yourself $100 a month to spend at bars/movies/restaurants, that comes out to ~$25k a year. I'm living on less than that and I'm still finding my life very comfortable and enjoyable. So If she's making $50k a year, what the fuck does she do with the other $25k?

And every time I hear someone complaining about not being able to make the payments on their car, I want to punch them right in the mouth. Why the fuck do people think that they need to buy a brand new/almost new car? I bought my van (a 1995) for $2000 at 109k miles, and in 3 years/31k miles, I've only had to spend ~$1200 in repairs, and for very minor stuff like brake line and rotor replacement. There are plenty of great used cars out there for $1000-2000 that'll get you at least 20-30k miles before they die. There is no legitimate reason to buy a new/barely used car when you don't have the money for it.

I really hope that everyone who owes for student loans is grandfathered in (not that I believe Obama will actually deliver, he won't) so they still have to pay.

people rarely finish an associates degree in nursing in 2 years. most of the time it takes 3-4 for an associates and there are the bachelor degrees in nursing that are out there. either way she shouldnt be crying over it
