Snakes on a Plane

I liked the movie BUT I think it was torn between taking itself too seriously and being a great gore comedy fest!
I love Sam Jackson but I wish he hammed it up more!!!

I wouldn't say there were any 'laugh out loud' moments... but the scene with

Julianna Margulies gritting her teeth while pulling up the plane was a hoot!

And when...

The guy taking a leak had the snake grab his... :o It hurt to watch, but it was funny when he yelled at the snake to let go.

When the snakes attack is the best part of the movie.

Audience participation is a must for this film. More importantly the RIGHT audience is essential. This was the one time that I wished I was sitting in a packed New York cinema!

Finally. This film needed Leslie Nielsen! I dunno playing a pilot or something. I can just see 'ol Leslie trying to kill a snake with his shoe! :)

I saw this on friday and loved it. It is a totally mindless film but great fun anyway and I cant wait to go and see it again soon!

It seems like Snakes On A Plane didnt do so well at the US box office according to Dark Horizons website:

"Whilst Hollywood's 'tracking' figures have been off much of this Summer, their predictions of a soft opening for the much hyped "Snakes on a Plane" proved more correct than even they surmised. The Sam Jackson starrer generated just $13.9 million at the box-office this weekend, coming in second behind a three week old Will Ferrell comedy.

Maybe it was the hype which bloomed too early, maybe it was the late August opening which guarantees a weak start, and maybe the recent terror scare and Draconian security measures that came along with it turned people off movies involving planes. Whatever the case, the finger pointing and attempts at justification will now begin in blogs and editorials everywhere.

After all, for your average $30 million action thriller it's a disappointing opening. For one so talked about though, it's a crushing blow. The online hype was far more intense than most films of this calibre, and the actual concept has become a part of the cultural vernacular, yet traditional forms of the film's publicity (posters, trailers) were all low-key and disappointing which probably contributed a lot. Expect the film to quickly vanish from theatres but earn a nice dividend for New Line in the video/DVD market.

The 'Snakes' did a tad better than Justin Long comedy "Accepted" which had a more average $10 million opening. The collegiate comedy was hurt by a last minute delay of one week in its release, lack of star power, and rather run-of-the-mill concept. It performed better than Hilary & Hayley Duff snoozer "Material Girls" whose $4.6 million opening failed to reach even the low expectations of the studio."

According to a reports New Line have authorized five days of reshoots to allow the film to go from a US rating of PG-13 to a less-profitable but more satisfying R-rating. The trade reports that the footage will feature more gore, more death, more nudity, more snakes and more death scenes. Appartently they even shot a scene where Jackson does utter the line that fans have demanded ("I want these motherf**king snakes off the motherf**king plane!"). I cant wait to see this film!

You may want to edit your post.

I saw it on Friday night. It was fantastic :D

I had been looking forward to it for a while, but secretly thought it'd be rubbish. How wrong I was. The whole film was great and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My favorite part was when the air hotess went to look into the hole in the cabin floor only for a snake to leap out :D

I didn't find it scary in the least, probably due to the CGI-y effect of the snakes though they were unpleasant. Ultimately I thought it to be a comedy and hilarious at that, especially when the snake latches on to a man's "little man".

In the first few minutes of the film it looked like a jason statham type action flick until the pace slowed considerably. I would maybe have cut out a bit of the middle so it is 10 to 15 minutes shorter. Also funny how hard that stewardess was trying to get with witness. A bit typically hollywood that stewardess who started hating samuel l jackson charater likes him at end after their "ordeal".

saw this over the weekend & it was ok but not fantastic to be honest I preferred Wilderness which I also saw but then again I do like films with plent of gore
