Snake owners and pet rats

Skitchoo...I am male, NOT female.

It's just the overall concept of keeping an creature that eats animals that make better pets than the snakes themselves. They should feed it mice, NOT rats, because, like pachyderm said, they make wonderful pets. I view it kind of like feeding a dog to a shark. That's the contrast between the two animals.

I know that snakes have to eat, but feed them fucking mice! They aren't smart and they make pretty bad pets. I am obsessed with science, and I KNOW it's instinct. The owners should just satisfy the instinct with different animals.

But mice are so cute. I once had a mouse that my friends named "The Mexican". It really liked me. It was the only mouse that didn't shit all over me.

BEASTIALITY!

Nah, I'm just kiddin'.

Maybe you met a smart mouse...but the ones I have seen are S-T-U-P-I-D!

They don't like people, unlike rats.

I used to have a pet snake, and my step brother had pet rats.

For one who is "obsessed" with science, you sure seem to be ignorant when it comes to snakes.

I'm sure my snake loved me as much as any rat you've ever had. It was smart, rest assured, and it remembered me, remembered its feeding times, and liked to rest on my stomach. Trust me, snakes show affection, they show intelligence, they aren't slithering fools as everyone wants to make them out to be.

It's the way of nature. The food chain shouldn't be messed with. I am not an animal rights person. A lot of the things that animal rights people have done ended up causing animal to starve to death rather than being killed by hunters and predators. Now, how would you rather die?
I also support animal testing facilities. If it weren't for PETA blowing up these places, we would be a lot closer to curing some horrible diseases. It's ok to slaughter an animal, just do it in a humane way, and actually use the meat. Don't kill it just to kill it. We should live as a part of nature, not as it's absolute masters.

The snakes I have held have not seemed that smart.

I have held a python, a corn snake, and a milk snake, and they didn't seem really smart. After hearing that, keeping a pet snake actually sounds pretty cool. Too bad my grandmother is deathly afraid of them.

Anyway, I was just suggesting you feed them mice instead of rats...mice aren't as smart and usually are pretty boring pets.

I do support animal testing. PETA can be helpful sometimes (READ: KFC slaughter houses), although other times they can mess stuff up for everyone, such as finding cures for cancer.

Hold a microorganism, as I'm sure you do every time you cup your hands. Does it seem smart? Nope. But they have some extremely complex jive goin on.

However, if we killed stuff on a basis of being "boring," then there would be a ton of species that wouldn't be living today... and a few people (John Kerry, for one).

Rats are typically less expensive, and larger. They simply make better snake food.

That's what I am bringing up, the prices of food.

I'm just saying you should feed them mice instead of rats. I also DEPLORE the killing of animals because they are boring. I also treat insects very nicely. If a moth has tattered wings and cannot fly, I will pick it up, and give it some sugar water until it dies. I just want to make the last days of it's life better.

Mice are shit compared to rats. But they are still VERY cute and I would still have a hard time feeding one to a snake.

You know what, fuck it. People are just still going to feed them rats. I give up.

I hope some of you guys now realize that rats do make good pets, and they are a viable option when your hamster/gerbil dies. Haven't you noticed that the rats will always come up to you from their cages and beg to be petted when they see you, where as other rodents will just keep on doing their thing, and not care when they see you? I think I'm gonna go hold one of my rats now...I love them so much.

Pets are good to us, to be sure.

I've got a Basset Hound, and I'm taking care of my neighbor's Labrador and gerbil while they're on vacation.
