snake in my garden o.o need help to identify it?

well i live in colorado the mile high state in the lakewood region and it was bout 7 pm when i was watering the garden. So i saw this thing on the ground and i was like ahh dumb neighbors dog keeps pooping on my lawn. Then i heard this squeel and i saw this thing moving. I was curious and so i jumped on a tall rock to get a better look and there was this snake eating a mouse. I couldnt see the head of it. Then i got even more curious and got the hose and spraid it and boy let me just say i was shoked literally ran into the house asap. I saw this brown snake that had a light brown skin with darker brown patches on it and underneath it was a white layer of skin. So when i sprayed water at it it slithered my direction and poped up its head while slithering. It had a wide head like it had ears linda like a heart shape and i'd estimate its diameter to be a little less than 3 inches. The snake wasnt all so thick it was actually pretty thin and as for length i couldnt tell cus it was wrapped around when i saw it eating the mouse. Is it possible that a it was be a baby cobra? O.o?? Also are cobras the only snakes that have a heart shaped head?
