sms gateway?

Is there an sms gateway so that somebody can send an email that will show up on a cricket phone as an sms text message?

Can the mms address be used to send a text that shows up on the phone? I tried sending a simple text to my friend's cricket an hour ago and it never arrived.

And I read somewhere that all they get is a link to an mms message on the internet.

Yes. Every Cricket phone that is MMS capable has the suffix @mms.mycricket.com as the MMS gateway. Like Simple3 said--if they don't have MMS (a.k.a. "Picture Messaging"), then they will get a standard SMS text with a link in it telling them where to retrieve the message.

there are a few email providers that the messages seem to not go through for whatever reason... however they now advertise this service so it should be supported by care (where as previously it was an undocumented unsupported service that just magically worked...

Another tip is be sure you send only emails formatted in plain text. I have had problems if the format is rich text or HTML. When the msg arrives it shows as a blank page or I never receive it at all. I also use a web based client as it seems like Outlook still does formatting of the msg even when set to plain text. Every time I use Outlook the msg fails. Attachments can be added, but size limit is I believe 368KB. Newer phones may be able to receive larger msgs from what I have seen while browsing the settings on my new V9M.
