Wanted to know your opinion on smoking ban. I have never smoked and I try not to be around those that do. When I go out to a club I have to deal with smoky rooms so much it's hard to see and breathe, not to mention the smell gets in your hair and clothes so much so that I smelled like I smoked an entire carton. Also, I would have more sympathy for smokers if anyone can give my one good reason to smoke. I've watched people I care about slowly kill themselves over this and I would hate to die from second hand smoke when I make it a point to exercise and eat right. Sure some smokers would say "then why don't you just not be around smokers?" But how can you get away from it? Look at all the kids who have asthma and have parents who still smoke? So will the smoking ban help or hurt?

As a non-smoker, I appreciate being able to go to smoke-free establishments. But since smoking is a legal activity, I believe that smokers should also have the right to frequent establishments that allow smoking.

The smoking/nonsmoking sections didn't work extremely well, at least not good enough for the anti-smoking Nazis. But I don't see any problem with an establishment advertising that it is all-smoking and others as non-smoking. People can then choose with their feet and wallets, and the Nanny State doesn't have to take care of us idiots who aren't capable of making our own choices.

The market will decide which establishments flourish and which don't make enough revenue to stay afloat. With the preponderance of non-smokers these days, I suspect the smoking establishments would wither of their own accord.

Ex-smoker here.

I think these smoking bans are a huge infringement of private property rights. I can go along with bans in places like offices and factories and even restaurants but bars and clubs is silly. No one has to go to a bar. There are no children there. The property owner has always had the right to make his location a non-smoking establishment.

Loud music bother me and endangers my hearing. I choose not to go to bars with loud music.

As far as kids with asthma. I grew up in the 60's & 70's when EVERY adult I knew smoked everywhere. Where was asthma then?
