I'm going mad here with this codec business. I have latest smart movie along with Xvid and that but it wouldn't work. I've installed the "All In One" codec from free-codecs.com as no change. I tried ffdshow no change, this is driving me mad. On my Uncle's laptop I tryed all the above plus K-Lite and they all failed till apart from All In One which I installed last. Can someone please direct me toward the ultimate codec ... a slow computer solution would be nice too, thank you.

are you trying to play the mpeg on your computer or on your phone?

if you converted the movie with the smartmovie converter then the phone should not have any issues playing the converted file. Your computer can play the file too.

Smartmovie supports XviD, DivX4, DivX5, 3IVX, and then some so it shouldn't be having any issues.

Did you convert the video using the smartmovie converter. Try converting it using the XviD codec since that is the one that comes with the program. My converted files are all .avi files so i don't know where you got this mpeg file from.

Fixed it I installed ffdshow and checked the box for mpeg layer 1 and 2 or something, this mobile business is going to make me go mad at this rate.

[EDIT] :'( Now I get a program crach error :'(.

Here's a little breakdown for you....

Smart movie has two parts. The part for the PC is the converter, the part for the phone is the player (it also has the XviD codec that you install on your phone after you install the player)

Once all of those are installed you find the video you want to convert.

You open the converter, add the file, and then tell it to convert it. It defaults to the XviD codec.

The converted file is then saved wherever you told it to be saved as a .avi file.

Move the .avi file to your phone.

start the smart movie player and have it browse for files. it will find the video and put it in your list of available videos.

Thats it. Not much else to it.

So, if you can, open up the converter, load one of your music videos, convert it using the xvid codec and we can see what happens. Where in this process do you run into errors and what is the exact error you get?

Also, how big are these music videos once you convert them? I get episodes of Lost down to 35Mb or so depending on the quality I choose. From all the issues you are having it sounds as though you aren't actually converting the files.

Well right now I'm using 3.25 so I would assume it should work with xvids, but when I load up Smartmovie and browse files, I don't see my file there. Am I doing something wrong?
