Smart way to upgrade

Hi All,

I'm with Cingular and I'm now eligible for an upgrade. I went to the Cingular's online shop and it seems that the best prices are offered for the new services - 2 yr upgrade prices are way higher. I'm looking to get a Nokia N75 and the price difference is 100 bucks. (so much for customer loyalty appreciation)

So, I started looking around and that's how I found this forum :)

I've read a few threads here and it looks like I can just buy an unlocked ATT/Cingular phone from one of the online stores and insert the SIM card there.

So my question is, what stores are good as far as prices, where do you guys usually buy your phones from?

Loyalty? I can tell by your post you have been with that company about 21 months. Loyalty? That's less than two years. How many times have you called in about your service, equipment or bill? Do you give the company reason to believe you may jump ship on them? How much money do you spend monthly? If you are just the regular Joe Schmo on the street spending 39.99 to 49.99 a month, all you deserve is the standard upgrade. Just as with any other company, the more you spend with at&t, the better the discount. If you are unhappy, you have the right go elsewhere when your contract ends.
 
Better check your crystal ball again, I've been with Cingular for 8 years already, besides when I mentioned loyalty appreciation I didn't even mean myself, but the prices for the all existing customers vs new customers schema in general. But it's not the point. The point is that I want for once do the upgrade smartly. Before I never bothered, I just went to the nearest Cingular shop, picked a phone I liked and extended the contract. I browsed this forum for some time and it seemed that people here really know what is what, so frankly I'm surprised that I didn't see any informative reply yet to what seemed to be a pretty simple question. Unless of course most of the folks here also do the upgrades the old, traditional way.
