Small MMS problem on TMO

Without rehashing the stuff too much, I'm sure many of you are aware of what the problem is: on some devices TMO resizes the incoming MMS pictures to thumbnails.

Right now I have the N97. I decided to do a two-pronged approach. Both complain to TMO, and find a workaround. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful at either.

I did call TMO. I wrote a letter too. But so far I have not reached any CSR that would actually know what I'm talking about. I'm thinking of writing all the way to the top, but I'm not terribly hopeful. But at the same time, I'm hoping that even if I personally am not successful, if there are enough of us who complain eventually something will get done.

I got the usual answer: "we don't guarantee compatibility with non-TMO phones". I'm going to argue that that's exactly what they're trying to do with the resizing. So either add the phone to The List, or better yet: stop doing it altogether. If they serve the MMS message as-is, and let the customer's equipment deal with it, whether it can or not, fine. I wouldn't have a problem with that, even if it didn't work. But they are actively doing it.

Enough of that.

So I tried the workarounds, but the problem that I kept running to was that none of the application signing websites worked. It seemed like they did all the way up to the end of the year, but now I can't get any signed. I forget which ones I tried, but I tried a few.

Has anybody tried to get their apps signed within a month or so? If so, what website worked?

The problem was that I'm thinking of getting the N8. Let's say if by some miracle someone wakes up at TMO due to my letters and adds the N97 to The List. I would still be out of luck..

Don't rely on application signing websites. Request a certificate from opda and sign them yourself. Certificates are valid for two or three years, so all you signing needs in that time will be met...

Opda.cn, right? I saw the instructions somewhere, and if I remember correctly I was able to register. Getting the certificate though didn't work out, since it looked like the web design had changed. And since I don't read Chinese... Also, when I go to the site, it says "All About Android!"... Hmm...

I have used them since I got my N86 in Dec 2008, I believe they changed the routine last year but it was a breeze to get the cert and key file, much easier than before. In November of last year and I signed the Y-Browser app and the mute camera app for my N8 using them.

Hey, thanks so much! I was able to get it to work after all... It got a bit frustrating, since I had a typo in the settings and also I got the "yapn.conf file not found" thing... But in the end, it's working!

Nice!
