Small claims court ...?

Someone owes me 900$ and refuses to pay me back. I don't want to take them to court but I'll have to. I'm 17, so to do this would I need to involve my parent? I don't want them to know about this because of some reasons. Could I have someone else for example an older brother or friend help me with this or no?

Yes as a minor you'd have to get help from an adult (non-minor), but it can be in your name.

As well, you can't hide what you are doing from him - it's illegal. All parties have the right to see evidence against them and to confront their accusers. Otherwise... does it really make sense to do this?
 
you cant do anything until you turn 18 if you dont want your parents involved.
but remember, even if you had them sign something, uless they are over the age of 18 whatever they signed is basically void. you cant be held to a contract until you are 18 years old. basically, unless you see what your parents can do (sue the other persons parents if they are a minor).. you will probably just be out that money.

You can just do it by yourself.

Small claims is not really a court, the purpose of it is just trying to solve the issue before really going to a court. Go to small claim's website, download the application form, fill out the details and post it to the address they provide.

Remember to include everything they require, such as a business name search, the description of the issue, and telling them what you want to claim back. If all the procedures were done properly, they will then send you a letter, notifying you the location and time for the court(not really a court case, just 3 person around the table, you, him, and the advisor)
 
You must involve your parents. People under 18 have no standing to sue in the court system; only your parent or legal guardian can do so on your behalf.
