A lot of art is unrealistic - that doesn't make it a fairytale.
Anyway, I'm not bothered about it being classified as a fairytale - but I don't think I'd put it in that genre myself.
I think it would be interesting to see what proportion of the people who have been to see it were women. When I saw it the audience was pretty balanced male & female. Of the frienRAB of mine who have seen it it's pretty much equal men and women, and the friend who raved about it the most was male.

I saw this movie some time ago and didn't enjoy it. I then watched in horror as it picked up award after award
culiminating in the oscar love fest.
Previous posters have described this as a fairytale and looking at the central love theme of the movie,
fairytale is a fair description, imho.
Much better movies were ignored by the academy not for artistic reasons but for cold hard buisness ones.

BTW, sorry about the Tescos joke Vennegoor - it was an attempt at keeping it light-hearted but reading it now it comes across as facecious! I don't strongly disagree with what you're saying - it's more the "plot holes" arguments that I strongly disagree with and it's those posters who the joke was aimed at really. It's just about as valid as the "plot holes" arguments.
