Slueth Man T5 at PDAGeek

I'm thinking I'll change my "handle" to sleuth man. :) NOT.

PDAGeek is reporting on the T5.

I saw the pictures claimed in the article and was unable to save it and now the link has gone bad.....perhaps PalmOne asked them to remove the links which is somewhat common.

You can see the specs. The device looked like a Tungsten E with full screen and no WiFi.

PDAGeek claimed it to be 3 pictures of a Powerpoint presentation but to me it looked like the outside of a box or package.

Again - I think we'll see this on Tuesday.

Can I get odds on that in Las Vegas?

That would definitely be of interest to me.

1. 256MB of FLASH, no Sprat/Flash potential problems.
2. Permanent landscape.
3. Hopefully all PIM and SD Card patches unnecessary
4. Better Digitizer?
5. Use as recognized USB external drive (worth losing Universal Connector, I guess)

That would be ROCKING. Grab a WiFi Card (those of you interested) and you're set. Depending on price ($399?) I'd STRONGLY consider moving up to it, and keeping T3 as spare. This would probably be my last "shot" at keeping all my OS5 stuff and still have a greatly improved unit with software intact.

If PalmOne are smart, they'll promote this last unit as just that: the last of the OS5 units for those users depending on OS5 compatible software for their daily lives . . . "But coming soon . . . OS6 and new adventures." I don't think it would slow sales, as a lot of people have been patiently waiting for landscape without slider, others want WiFi but will have the card option (which I think is great), and still others wouldn't buy AT ALL til OS6 anyway so it's a moot point.

I have to say: if this is accurate, good goin' PalmOne and thanks for recognizing the "dinosaurs" still out here who've amassed a good deal of software and would like it to work. They (P1) have addressed the issue head on I was raving about for months. Good for them.

And good for you, MM -- Great post.

Now I need to know if overall length is AS LONG as T3 extended, or slightly shorter. I've been using the T3 for the past 2 hours EXTENDED with landscape in those apps that support it . . . and you could get used to it for Address, Agendus and Spreadsheets, AS WELL AS have the graffiti pad otherwise up for all my "cool" TealLaunch settings I don't use because of slider being closed.

Hmmmmm. . . . . . Uh oh. Gettin' excited. Mas Red Bull . . . .

Thanks for the info. Too bad the photos are not still on-line.

If the T5 does not have built-in WiFi, there may not be anough of an advantage for me to switch from my T3. I don't mind the slider design and I've got plenty of available RAM. ... Guess we'll just have to see what actually comes out on Oct 1st and match fact with rumor and hearsay.

How are things in Modesto? My sister lives in Gustine and drives to Modesto to do some real shopping!

The 256 Flash RAM and the USB connector sound good. I personally would prefer the screen remain switchable from landscape to portrait.

Absolutely . . . in fact that's what I meant by "permanent landscape" -- I could have my graffiti area back. TealLaunch allows for wicked launch commands by moving from one graffiti corner to another, or midpoints, or . . . . hundreds of 'em. I used to have everything mapped on the M505 and have done so on the T3 as well . . . problem is I have the unit closed most of the time to avoid "wear and breakage," and rely on T/L pop-up menu and screen button and button press/holds to launch most apps now.

The permanent landscape would be great for everyone - regardless of how much you use "extended apps" (of which I'm finding I have several!!)

Well, I'm not in Modesto tonight and won't be tomorrow night. In the lovely town of Fresno tonight - Go BullDogs my Alma Mater - so I can't say.

Great Golf Course outside of Patterson called Diable Grande not to far from Gustine and a little closer to G-Town is Stevinson Ranch another great course.

PTL - I'd say that if you look at a Tungsten E then you've got your foot print so I'm not sure of the length. In backtracking the pics the link was to PDA24/7 which is a Great Britain web site and could provide some reliability but then again who knows. In checking the link, since I just got back in from a meeting, it looks as not only did the "powerpoint" pics get pulled but PDA24/7 pulled the entire article.

I'll be out an about the next couple of days so you guys will have to provide the sleuthing.....or we can't cut to the chase and forget all of this speculation and wait for the hardware.

And Paul, I agree with you that if this thing has everything as stated, flash ram and will mount as a "drive" with the PC - image if you will a handheld PDA with a 1GB SD card that I can carry nearly all of my necessary stuff on - laptop would get mightly lonely compared to now.

Only time will tell. See you folks late Saturday and keep watching the screen on Monday night about midnight - cause that's when I think it will be official, 28th not the 1st.
