Slow Texting

Why is it when im receiving a text from someone...it takes longer than normal..?

I sent a test message to myself and it took 3-5 minutes before i received it?

Please, no. Please, no!! I hope Cricket doesn't start having problems like Boost!!

Nah, it'll probably get fixed soon. I don't know what the problem is but I don't think Cricket will ever have major text problems. Hopefully someone else can help you.

Have you tried contacting Cricket? The delay is not much, but maybe something is going on in your area.

When i try to contact Cricket...
It take like 2 hours on hold...
I suppose because they are signing up so many new customers..
The store i was in...has a line to sign up new people...6 were inline to sign up

In order for texting to be like Boost the delays would have to measured in hours or days (yes, days) not 5 minutes. For what it's worth, my business takes me to many many Cricket markets and the texting has always been perfect for me.

Here are my two thoughts:

1. Chicago is a brand new market. It sounRAB like they are adding an enormous amount of customers and as they ramp up storage in their SMSC, short delays like this may happen. But what is far more likely to be the cause however is that fact that...

2. You purchased Cricket's most inexpensive (and cheap, in every possible sense of the word) phone.

I have never had a message take more than a minute on either Cricket or MetroPCS. When I text someone in the same room (during a conference call or something) they are instantaneous. On AT&T I sometimes had delays that were around the 10 minute mark but again, I think that had more to do with my phone than anything else. Five minutes is slow? You really should go hang out in the Boost forum for a little while to see what pain truly feels like.

EDIT: Here is an excellent example:

i kinda figured that......Chicago IS a new market...and from what i noticed...People were practically inline to sign up....There is a US cellular and T-Mobile store just across the street, and they were walking out because of the Cricket Sales people handing out flyers...

I was amazed...as this store was open for only a week....I didnt know it was there yet since i dont go usually in that direction...but i did my research long before the store was open...so when I saw it...my eyes popped out...as well as 15 other people who were ready to sign up as well...

Im thinking that their network is way overloaded....

The sales person said that they have their OWN network....AWS or something...
Normally a prepaid uses another carriers system...

Yeah, Cricket built their own network from the ground up in Chicago. If it was "way overloaded" though you would be seeing delays of a lot longer than 5 minutes :) I would stick with it if I were you. You're not going to get better service at a better price anywhere else.

The A100 looks like it might be an OK phone after all. Its predecessor, the EZ, was dreadful however.

I heard that there is even Cricket service on the underground subway system. Have you tried that out yet? If that is true then it is very impressive.

Ill give that a try this week.....if IT does work in the subway....I will go to a Cricket Rep and kiss the floor he walks on...

What i dont get is why is this all so cheap? and why hasnt anyone else done this before? If this really takes off it will probably change the market as we know it....The other prepaid companys will lose a hell of a lot of people...

Edit: Also a lot of people will be leaving after their contracts are up too.....
I hope that Cricket gets better phones soon

Ill tell you whats wrong.
CRICKET!!!
I swear it is the worst mobile phone company I have EVER had. I never get service and if I do, I lose it. It does take forever for texts to be recieved and stuff. I literally hate Cricket now. Thats why Im going to get T-Mobile tomorrow. G1 time guys. I just cant stand the horrible coverage anymore.

Cricket is a great service for the price. Service coverage, quality are oustanding in my area. Have fun with overproced Tmobile.

Cricket works better than most other carriers in Vegas. it is almost odd to hear about cricket having coverage issues. Oh and texting is speedy as always.
