Sleepless nights

For me.. I had sleepless nights during the whole taper but now I realize that my taper was WAY to quick.... Anyways.. For me it was the whole 3 weeks and then...... about 4 more days after that.... Now.. If you do a more gradual taper I don't think it will be like this. I was so niave then.... anyways... A lot of people experience a lot less symptoms than I did with my taper.

I was on Oxycontin and Oxycodone. It was such a relief when the w/d stage was over!! I could sleep again... It took about a good month though after that for the fog to raise and to feel some what normal again.

Hope that helps!

The entire time I was tapering and detoxing below 5 mg/day (about 2 weeks) I had the severe insomnia. I'm still having problems sleeping now, but I have always had problems. Assume you will have the insomnia until you are off the drugs. Talk to your doctor about it. I was my mentally weakest in the middle of the night and broke twice and increased my drug dose. You need to sleep for your body to recover.

I tried doing the cold turkey thing about a year ago. I knew what it was like to almost die. I became mean, violent, sad, depressed, headach, vomiting, diarreah ect.. It took me till now to try and quit again. This time tapering off, The only symptom is no sleep. That I can deal with so far. I am wondering if I should take a benadryl or some type of sleep aid at night, What do you think? Then I think Pills and doctors got me into this mess. So, I probably will just try and ride it out. We will all keep in touch!

Its been 5days since I cut my dosage of suboxone in half. I would go to sleep as normal around 11pm. I would wake up around 1am kicking my wife. My legs would just be running wild with out me. I would get up and do the dishes, fold laundry ect..Last night I decided to take a benadryl. I slept the whole night through. I feel great this morning. I think by the end of Feb '09 I will be suboxone free. Good luck!

During my recovery I averaged 1-4 hours sleep a day for weeks. I would be up all night long walking around the house. Something like Tylenol-PM can help, but not if you're taking Percocet (you didn't say which drug you were taking - Percocet has Tylenol already in it). Or, just Benadryl. Ask your physician to prescribe something for sleep like Arabien or something to relax you like Xanax or Valium. Let your doctor know your symptoms and let them prescribe something to help.

Letting us know which drug you are recovering from and the dose may help to provide better information.

Hey Evan,

I replied to this in another thread but I figured I would reply again so you wouldn't miss it.

Welcome by the way!!!! When I was going thru w/d the lack of sleep was horrible and made everything seem worse in my opinion so eventually I HAD to do something... First I tried benedryl and then I tried an over the counter sleep aid like tylenol pm but I would take like 4 at a time and still only get an hour or so... So I broke down, called my doctor and she gave me 10 xanax. It did help.... however.... It all just had to run it's course before things got back to normal.

I hope you get some sleep soon!
