Sleeping in pain

I have recently had a problem sleeping and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or knows what is wrong. I used to be able to sleep just fine on my side in bed but here for the last year now I have only been able to sleep sitting up. I cannot lie down in any position for any ammont of time without feeling a severe pain in my groin area. The pain only subsides when I sit up so that's what I do. Weather or not it is healthy I don't know as I don't have medical coverage and no way to get to the hospital so this is my only option is to ask someone. Any advice would be appreciated! ;)

madness,

How is your back feeling lately? The reason I ask is because this sounds like a familiar problem among people with lumbar disk related injuries. When you are laying on your side, the spinal cord conforms with your laying position and may be pinching on a nerve. As you sit up, this takes the pressure off the nerve and the pain subsides. Of course I am no doctor... but I have heard several people complain of similar pain and numbness in the legs for lumbar disk issues.
