So I've always slept "A little too soundly" (as my mother puts it), and I seem to be one of those people who can sleep through anything and who can sleep for long periods of time without trouble (9-12 hours easily). But occasionally, I "wake up" shouting things and sometimes acting out, but never physically toward someone, never injuring myself or my partner, and never sleepwalking. I am completely and utterly ASLEEP and would not be aware of it at all if it weren't for my (poor) boyfriend. I have no recollection of it, and it's not serious yet, but I'm afraid it might grow to be something dangerous.
We've deduced that alcohol might be a trigger (specifically vodka), but i rarely drink heavily, so it's really difficult to tell.
I am just wondering what I can do to help make this go away, and if it will just go away on its own. I've read that you can take clonazepam (a muscle relaxer), but that costs money I don't have insurance right now. Any other solutions or places that give discount pharmaceuticals?
Also, if suggesting a sleep study, do you know of schools that have sleep disorder clinics in NYC?
Thank you!
