Slayers (Specifically Season One-Three)

I love this series.
Though season two is my all time favorite.

Those unfamiliar, Slayers follows the adventures of Lina Inverse, which are pretty hilarious half the time. When she's not killing bandits or stuffing her face with food she's fighting ancient dark lorRAB and preventing the end of the world

So anyone else a fan?
 
Lisa Ortiz has yet to make anything I don't like. I just hope they get her for Slayers Revolution and Evolution

The fact that the Lord of Nightmares is virtually identical to the god I worship helped too.
 
The first episode almost perfectly represents how the entire show goes about.
It puts non-serious people into serious situations. Its one of my favorite kind of gags really.
 
I remeraber the first series. My video rental store only had the first 3 volumes, so I would watch those. I never picked up the whole series, but from those episodes, I remeraber it being pretty good.
 
I keep seeing it praised everywhere, considered a classic. I watched most of season 1...and to be honest, I wasn't really digging it. Unlikeable characters that use the same gags, over, and over, and over some more. I just wasn't really laughing about 10 episodes later.

I doubt the later seasons make any changes to it's formula either, Slayers is something I'll never understand.

Eh, that's just me.
 
I have a dvd from the series and I would have to say there a some pretty hillarious moments in it. Maybe ill give the whole series a try.
 
Arinamoon you deffenetly should its all worth it and all the OVAs and movies.

Theres a good bit to this series. The only thing is I don't like the job ADV on the OVAs and movie dubs. They are ok but not as good as the series.
 
I actually hated the OVA's...apart from the Octopi one (Which was hilarious),
I dunno, I just didn't like Naga that much I guess....but Season 2 still remains my top pick because of the memorable moments in it.
 
Slayers Next was good but to me try is better because of my boy Valgrav. To me he was the best of the 3 bad guys Lina fought no dought!
 
Maybe its because it's a childhood favorite, and the second anime series I ever saw (knowingly), that I have rose tinted glasses on.

I didnt mind the gags. I mean yeah,the constant jokes about Lina's small bust might have annoyed others but I remeraber thinking them funny.
The first season is on its way to my house, so I look forward to seeing if it still holRAB up.
 
Slayers is one of the series I'm glad to have watched and do regard it as a classic but it's not one of my favourites.

Overall some of the gags are bit laboured and they do string things out a bit needlessly in each season. Season two (Next) is probably my favourite but I do like the third for Lina's superb reaction to the letter from her sister and the exploration of the world.

Fun and silly I recommend anyone to give it a chance.
