"Slacker Cats": A New ABC Family Animated Series (Also Talkback)

I'm not going to lie, I thought the second episode was better than the first. The characters are very interesting, Tabitha and Doper especially. Not fond of Miss Boots, but I guess that's what the creators wanted. I guess out of the two main cats, Buckley seems to be the more entertaining. Like said before, this show has real potential. It's not, roll on the floor laughing, but I laugh. The gag with the town sign seems to be akin to the American Dad newspaper, Critic telephone call, Simpsons couch gag, which I like.

What I don't like, so far, is how the plot is all over the place. Not as bad with this second episode, but it's something the producers need to work on. With Family Guy, that kind of stucture has the cutaways to fall back on, this show doesn't.

Anyone know how the ratings are? No mention anywhere.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of fans of this show, atleast on this board anyway, but I bumped it anyway for those wishing to discuss tonights ep.
 
That anime parody is a few years too late. Clerks: TAS did it better, anyway.

A couple things in this episode made me laugh: "You liked that A-Z Animals book I got you, don't you?"
"Not really. I stopped at the letter R."

"There's nothing I fear more in this world than rats."
"Then how would you like to go into the basement and fight a whole bunch of them, one by one?"
"OK."

Otherwise this show still doesn't entertain me too much. And it's odd, it can never seem to hold my attention after about the second act. Not sure why that is, but I sort of lose interest in the plot the farther in it goes.
 
The show is starting to grow on me. I think the lack of gross out humor in this one made it funnier. I liked the newscast talking about what not to wear due to the tiger being on the loose, and Buckley's rat fear is sort of cliche with characters like Garfield, but still kinda funny. Dooper still makes the show.

The anime fight scene at the end was worth it just to hear Tabitha go, "Buck-rey!"
 
They are starting to really improve the plot problem, this one merged together at the end, but was predictable. Anyone not know, as soon as Buckley changed his color, he was going to be mistaken as the tiger?

I laughed, so it did it's job for this week.

If Tabitha and Dooper were the main focus, then the viewers might have grown tired of them pretty quickly. Sometimes the funniest things are done in moderation.
 
Anyone got any clue as to how well this show is doing ratings wise? I'm not going to get myself attached to a show that has the prospect of lasting only 2 more episodes. What I thought I had read somewhere, was that 6 eps will air now, 7 more in January/Feb like South Park does. Can someone confirm that?
 
This one actually was all right. Aside from the "eating barf" part, that is.

My favorite joke was:
"How's being homeless?"
"You should try it sometime, it really makes you appreciate the good things in life."
"Well I think I'm just going to go ahead and HAVE the good things in life." :D

The bit where the prostitute client says "I've got a cat but... she doesn't wanna be touched anymore" was a great analogy, too, and I liked Eddie trying to shove Buckley through the key hole as opposed to the mail slot.
 
The eating barf bit was a tad much, but the rest of the episode was pretty good. Huh, I just assumed Eddie was the one that always brought up "Mr. Boots".

And we finally meet Eddie's owner, Which anyone else notice, looked exactly like him, including the "whiskers" on his face?

I liked this one enough to give it a 4/5, what the hell.
 
Agreed on the nasty barf scene. :sad: But this episode was pretty good. Eddie's owner did look exactly like him, that was great. :D


Anyone know how well the show is doing ratings-wise yet? I actually never thought it would make it this many episodes in. :yawn:
