I saw an ad tonight for an ABC Family animated series called "Slacker Cats", coming in August. As the title suggests, it's about two slacker cats. I did a little Google-ing, since I literally found out about it TONIGHT, and thought I'd post a few links:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0778844/ - Whoa, this goes as far back as 2001? Meaning it was finished back then but just sat on the shelf for years, or that it originated in 2001 and just recently got finished? Either way, wow.

http://www.catchannel.com/News/slacker-cats.aspx - A small list of voices we can expect.

http://www.frederatorblogs.com/post/4194 - Apparently it's animated in Flash.

Anyone know any more about this title?

I thought that ABC Family dumped all of it's animated shows. They must just now be realizing what a patently bone headed move that was.

Amazing! I thought ABC Family abandoned all animation in favor of live-action dramas and sitcoms. So, is it now possible that Jetix may come back to ABC Family sometime in the near future, since Slacker Cats is premiering on that very same channel this upcoming August? Anyways, shouldn't this news be in the Disney forum instead of here since this topic is about a cartoon premiering on ABC Family, a Disney-owned TV network?

Looking at the last link it seems to indicate the show is for young adults rather than kids. So wherever Jetix will come back to ABC Family is still up in the air.

Wait a moment, *removes all inflammables from room*

They dropped Jetix, with some of the best animation on any channel and replaced it with marathon reruns of Dukes of Hazard. Now they dig up an obscure antique? I'll only go near that channel again when they bring MY SHOWS back.

Yeah, I did notice that! I'm definitely surprised that Disney, a family-oriented media establishment, is now starting to air adult animation on one of their own networks and also that ABC Family acquired Slacker Cats instead of Adult Swim.

Ya see, that's why their airing it on ABC Family, instead of the Disney Channel. Disney always release non-family friendly shows and movies through different brands.
That's why they made Touchstone Pictures in the first place.

I look forward to seeing this. It seems cute.

Maybe they'll aquire The Critic & Dilbert from Comedy Central since CC doesn't air them anymore and start their own adult cartoon block.

Both shows are currently owned by Sony, and both entire series are currently available on DVD, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

My mistake. But my point is no less valid: neither show is owned by Disney, and each of them have DVDs of their complete respective series out already, so I'd say the possibility of ABC Family acquiring either of these shows and making their own [adult swim] out of them are slim at best.

To me, the only real problem seems to be "if disney is involved, DVD's are not forthcoming. It doesn't seem to matter who made or released the show, IF they went through Disney at any point, US license release of any kind is killed.

Nice info...

I have heard a bit about this.

I gotta say it does look kinda interesting...I mean "slacker" cats, voiced by none other than Sinbad and Harland Williams...it's got to be entertaining to say the least...
