I installed Skype on my Windows Mobile phone and have used it several times. Today however, the call button to make calls to landlines is grayed out. I am connected to wifi but any ideas why this might be happening, please?
I live in the Bahamas but Skype works fine on my iPad and iTouch so Skype is not being blocked. In fact, I can sometimes make Skype calls through Nimbuzz on the WM phone but it is not too consistent.
Do you mean Skype? Not sure...how do I see that? It probably would not be up to date as Skype does not support WM so I guess the download would be rather old? But the Skype site says that anyone still using it will be able to continue at least through 2010 even though it will not be supported.
By the way, thanks so much for all the thought you are putting into this! I really appreciate it.
Very interesting development but even more of a challenge! I brought my phone to another wifi connection and all is well. Now I am wondering....last week I had to change my modem and my router had to be slightly reconfigured. Could this be a factor, though that would not explain why Skype on my ipod touch and ipad can connect! However, I am more concerned about being able to use Skype on my phone while away from home, so as long as it works elsewhere, maybe I should just leave well alone!
I can't help feeling that not enough attention is being paid to the fact that, at least as described in this thread, this is unsupported software. Just because it used to work, doesn't mean that something changed and it no longer works.
No, Headcronie, you had the answer! When I checked the wifi configuration, "This is a hidden network" was checked! Not sure why Skype ever worked if this was the problem as I have not gone into wifi configuration since I initially set it up, but, unchecking that item worked!
Many thanks for all your help. I am sure I would have given up if you had not given me so many suggestions.
