Skype Arrives on Symbian^3

Another in a long line of lame 'upgrades' and releases from the Skype corporation. Idiots.

If only Fring had a desktop client, or supported Google/Yahoo etc Video chat.

You could do it using Fring. None of the official Skype clients for Symbian have supported video calling. The only Nokia device that supported Skype video calling out of the box was the N900, and to a lesser extent the N800/N810.

Yea and I used skype with fring, when it wasn't blocked, to video skype desktop client from my N95-1.... actually I always used the fring client cause they were first to providing video over skype. So in actuality, I never used the S60 skype for video...

I know Fring works to any other mobile phone it supports but the receiver must have Fring installed for video calls and there are version for Android and iPhone as well.

No speakphone option is another mess up! They need to add that back on and I couldn't even get this downloaded from the ovi store or skype itself. Not existent in ovi store and when i go to download on skype says my phone is incompatibale ( Dumb asses the N8 is compatible you even say so on your website.)

Luckily i managed to get a hold of a .sisx file

I had no problems downloading skype for the N8 from skype.com/m. Lack of a speakerphone option is my main gripe along with the placement of the mute/hold buttons. Atleast for me, I tend to regulary press them unknowingly during a conversation, which is quite annoying. Maybe this has to do do with the form factor of the N8 as this never happened with the N97.

Video calling wouldn't hurt either......
