Not only are they playing monoply with all the broadcasting, i.e with sports, so other companies sturggle i.e setanta, whom may be folding setanta sports this very up and comign year!

so we lose pubs, and lose the natural fun of going to the local with the boys having a pint or four and watching the game.

They charge pubs a disguisting amount each month... you at home will pay extra £20 or so to get it, did you know a small pub, same size as your house maybe, will pay £700 approx PER MONTH, big pubs i.e weatherspoons wil pay in the region of 5k per month, that a terrible amount to charge, espcially for those little pubs who struggle as it is, and no they dotn get it back in revenue ( all the time)
Think there would be hefty fines if we did that over here

W.B.A ....Think your going to have to wait 2 years to go up, newcastle.middlesborough and my mighty local bristol are going up this year!

Yeah! BUT - you are looking at this from a one sided point of view...

Sky will charge those amounts whilst there is a market for them to do so - if all the pubs stopped paying or cancelled or simply did not take up the service - they would have no customers - then and only then would they be forced to change their pricing policy and cut the cost.

Personally, I agree with what you say BUT at the end of the day - if the pubs pay it - Sky will charge it - so who in reality is to blame - the pub!

I would rather go to a pub and NOT have Sky TV on in the background -

I don't have setanta or sky im from the UK but live in California, i just watch what i want online with my laptop hooked upto the tv. Watched all the football, boxing, formula one i want for free.

It's open market driven by the greed of sponsorships demanded by the clubs themselves, Sky have to make a profit, where do you think they get the money from to bid levels like this.... For the three-year period starting in season 2007/8, Sky will pay a total of £1,314 million for the four packages it has been awarded. Sky is making their profit but it's the big deals that are disgusting, and that's the inflated wages and monies taken by The Premier League Ltd, and the clubs/ players themselves.
