skateboard photography HELP!?

i want to go to the local skate park and try too take some cool action pictures but i feel weird and kinda dorky taking pictures of peapole how do i get over this fear enough to get good photos close up ( i dont have a good zoom lens)
 
its not a fear its of course awkward. but some people will be minding there own skating business ta care. just don't get too close u might end up making some one trip over or something.
 
If your confident, go up to a group of people, and ask permission. Skaters I know wouldn't mind at all. Just chill, speak their language, and try to fit in with them.. just so you don't appear awkward. Make sure you don't get in their way though. I'd suggest pick a spot, and stay there, so they know where you are.
 
try to strike up conversations with the people you're trying to get close ups of.. maybe they will do a special trick for your photos. they would probably feel cool with someone taking their picture like that. you could even offer them a copy
