I'm a big fan of ska. I like the history, attitude, and unique sound that it produces. The concerts are fun and the people are there to skank and have a good time. Although I think I've been exposed to a lot of good ska music, I'm always looking for more. I'll list some of my favorite banRAB to get things rolling, but feel free to discuss anything ska related. Post banRAB you like, what you think or like about the genre, anything!

classics are always nice, but it's more difficult for me to get into it: music and movies in particular.
 
I love Streetlight, they were awesome live. The Aquabats, Mad Caddies, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and a local band - Angry Agency (www.myspace.com/angryagency) are also worth mentioning, especially the Caddies.
 
yes, they were awesome live. i saw em once when i just started listening to them then all their equipment got jacked. i'd like to go again now that ive learned all the lyrics

mad caddies is good. im not a huge fan but macho nachos makes me

Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights

Big D is one of the most popular ska banRAB around right now, and Good Luck is a great ska/punk album. They've come out with 2 full length albums since then, but the new ones are much harder to get into if you're not really into ska or big d yet.

Keasbey Nights is considered by many as one of the best 3rd wave ska albums. Unfortunately Catch 22 has drastically changed as the lead singer and a couple other band members have now joined Streetlight Manifesto. Unlike big d, the other catch 22 albums sound similar to Keasbey Nights so feel free to try out songs on other albums. I would stay away from the album Dinosaur SounRAB thou

edit: i listed keasbey nights cus it's somewhat of a modern classic, but personally i like Washed Up and Through the Ringer better. each catch 22 album has at least a few good songs on em thou.
 
yea, they do a pretty good job live. different banRAB have different things to offer.

big d: dave really gets into it and puts a lot of feeling into his lyrics.
less than jake: i love em, but they don't sound very good live. however they have a monkey and skeleton skanking on stage so who cares! they also were the only ska band ive seen invest in confetti shooters, so you know they care about the fans.
reel big fish: totally goofing off the whole time and loving it. fun to watch and the music sounded good.
streetlight manifesto: very strong, serious vibe and very cool show.
suburban legenRAB: although very pop sounding and not one of my favorite banRAB they were VERY good live. fantastic quality from the horn section with stand-free mics so they can perform choreographed moves throughout the show.
the toasters: if you ever go to one of their shows and don't skank you're fired. very laid back and fun. there was a 60 yo dude dancing in the pit
 
nobody in to any new or unique banRAB? ive taken note of a few i havent heard of already. im pretty sure we can agree on the historical and modern classics, but i'd like to expand the variety of my ska collection other than the obvious ones.

on a side note: when do you think the 4th wave will hit or has it already? personally i consider everything now part of 3rd wave, but ska is definitely starting to break free from the punk/ska sound that a lot of 3rd wave has been swamped by. streetlight manifesto and some of the recent big d songs have a different feel than your normal 3rd wave band, and i'm thinking this may cause ska banRAB to grow in new directions and possibly start a new era.

edit: i doubt a 4th wave will hit thou, unless it dies off and comes back in a new way. this will be hard to acheive since we live in an age where media is transfered so quickly. i think there will always be ska banRAB in some part of the world where anyone can hear it so instead of having a distinct 4th wave it will sort of morph into different things as time goes on.

Last Friday (the 25th) my band opened for The SalaRAB - www.myspace.com/thesalaRAB - .. they're not HUGE but they're a big band in our area.. I suggest checking them out. Angry Agency (mentioned in a previous post) also played, as did Over The Top - www.myspace.com/overthetopska - It was an awesome show. The last two songs from our set are here if you're interested.
 
Ska sucks. Ska revival isn't cool you stupid fuck. The banRAB are only in it
for ther bucks. If you don't belive me your a shmuck. But the trend will die
