Sit Down, Shut Up - "Pilot" - Talkback [4/19]

It was okay. Some parts made me laugh. The winking scene was pretty funny.

"I need a catchphrase"

I think I'll watch this a bit more when new eps come out.

Brilliant! Truly brilliant! I enjoyed everything from this!

This really did feel like Arrested Development, with the flashbacks and how dry and witty it is. I was kinda surprised at the 4th wall jokes, since AD never really had those jokes.

I think I liked Miracle the most so far, so props to Kristin Chenoweth (her VA)

I thought Stuart was voiced by David Cross at first, but it's actually Will Forte.

And yes, that was Tom Kenny as the custodian Muhannad.

This premiere didn't really work for me, sadly. It had rapid fire dialog, which I tend to like. The live action backgrounds mixed with animated characters actually worked surprisingly well. And the premise has potential.

Yet, I barely laughed at all. The characters at this point feel way too one-dimensional and unlikable. The comic timing was way off, as they tended to rush through the jokes in a big hurry. I also wasn't a huge fan of the character designs, which were both flat and uninterestingly drawn. The animation is also bare bones, but I guess that's to be expected from a primetime sitcom at this point. There was one joke I LOL'd at, and that was one of the teachers busting into the German teacher's class because he thinks they were laughing at him, and saying it's OK for him to like porn.

I'll keep watching, but I hope the next episode is a big improvement.

This show is great :anime:
Stuart and Miracle are my most favorite characters(I actually like all the characters on the show)
I hope to see more episodes

It was funnier than I thought it would be, honestly. I definitely got a Mission Hill vibe from this show.

My prediction: Sit Down, Shut Up will be canceled after 1 season, and then Adult Swim will air the reruns shortly thereafter.

I liked it.

- "I was saying 'No porn'."
- The winking montage
- Stupid guy had great cans
- Real-life cat FTW
- Kenan Thompson makes for a very convincing woman (not a shot, but an observation)
- The flashback that never came
- The "I need a catchphrase" coffee mug
