What information can a Neurologist provide me about my sinsues that an ENT couldn't?
I have had sinus problems for the past few years. The last two years have been excessively problematic. Most recently, since December 26th of last year, I have had a major sinus infection. I was on antibiotics and was able to feel relief for about three or four days. The remainder of the time I have had both nasal passages at a point of complete closure. No breath allowed in. No breath allowed out. I could only breathe through my mouth.
Before this latest sinus infection, I had seen an ENT for the persistent problems. I had a CT scan last November after being on Prednisone and Biaxin for more than 10 days. The ENT said that the scan didn't show any infection and no pollyps (sp?) were found either. He said if I continue to have problems that I should see a neurologist. What can a neurologist find in this situation that the ENT was not able to see? I'm feeling a bit frustrated and TIRED. I just want to breathe so that I can get a good night's sleep. I have azthma, too, so when I can only breathe through my mouth, it makes me cough and get short of breath. I'm starting to feel desperate.
