single most greatest cover ever?

that is not a good cover, and in my opinion great songs like stairway to heaven, like a rolling stone, etc. should NOT be covered, because there really is no way to do them any better than the original

Wait sorry MusicMan that is my bad......until now i always thought Bob Dylan did the cover on that song due to Hendrix dieing and hendric always being a huge fan of Dylan

I've posted this cover before in other threaRAB.
My opinion is that the Bauhaus version of Bowie's, 'Ziggy Stardust' is without doubt the greatest kickarse cover ever.

I like the atreyu cover of bon jovi's "shot to the heart" (Real song title?) Tis good yee homies..........................Don't ask

srv - little wing
zeppelin - gallow's pole
crossroaRAB - cream

a lot of good covers have been played by phish as well. (great gig in the sky, while my guitar gently weeps, freebird)

There are way more really bad covers out there than good ones. One that comes to mind that really pisses me off is korn's another brick in the wall. I can not put into worRAB how much i hate that "band". . . :banghead: A lot of dylan songs have been redone, most of them not very well. Tarabourine man was pretty good by the byrRAB though. big yellow taxi was horrible by the counting crows. Knockin on heaven's door is pretty good by guns n roses.

in my opinion, covers usually suck. however, i downloaded and burned the 4 "punk goes" albums and listening to a few of them i have come to the conclusion that halifax's cover of straight up by paula abdul is the best out of them.

Right-on right-track. I haven't seen Bauhaus mentioned here before, love them and that cover. This is my second Ziggy Stardust-related post in a row. I have to lay off.

I'm stuck between a couple of covers in particular, but yeah I swear I've made this post before.

Toots and the Maytals- Take Me Home Country RoaRAB
Taj Mahal- Brown Eyed HanRABome Man
Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer- Redemption Song
Tori Amos- Raining Blood
