SINGLE DIN CD PLAYER IN DOUBLE DIN SLOT?

I own a Mazda 626 LX. It has a factory made double-DIN cd player. Lately its giving me trouble and destroyed a lot of CDs. I want to convert my system to single DIN player. What should I need to buy, and will it be really possible? If its possible any suggestion of making the bottom slot a little decent looking.Thanks in advance
 
There are a few options. You can buy a kit that has a plastic surrounding that fills the gap, or you can buy a piece that makes one half of it like a slot you can put things in. The kits are easy to find and are specific for your vehicle. Just about every autoparts store has them. They also have wiring kits that make the job really easy...
