Sin City 2005 looks rubbish

I saw a bit of this last night and must say its not my sort of film.

It had 4 stars in the mag but I would not give it one.

Just shows you cannot always go by the reviews.

What do you think of this film?
Its not for me because of GCI.

do you mean CGI?

hmm, sin city what do i think?

i think it has an absolutely stellar cast, and at least tries something a bit original in trying to bring a noir graphic novel "to life"

however, it is certainly full of itself, and i don't know about anybody else, but i find with Sin City (as with 300 also), that watching this film, with the lack of real sets and completely digitised environments, that after a short while it gives me a really bad headache

Clive Owen and Bruce Willis means it rates well enough for me.

I like the fact that along with 300, it does something different. Not really an 8/10 movie, but a decent enough 7, I think, personally...

You only saw a bit, so you can hardly give your rating out of whatever on it.

It's wonderful to look at, brilliantly made. Even a section directed by Quentin Tarantino. :)

I absolutely hated Sin City and somehow got dragged along to see it twice at the cinema but I gotta say it's hard to put my finger on what exactly I disliked about it.

It looks (or rather looked) quite unique at the time but after the first ten minutes it wears thin and you realise how disengaging it all is. Add to that the shallowest of plots and you're left with a right bore-fest, very much a case of style over substance.

But there's something else that really irked me about this film but, like I say I can't put my finger on it.

I liked it enough to buy it the first time I saw it- probably because I'd never seen anything like it. But the more I watch it, the more I am inclined to say it is just a style over substance sort of film, and that isn't for everyone. It reminRAB me of pulp fiction in that sense.

I still like the multiple stories and narratives and how they intertwine- the chrome effect is nice too, as are the occasional glimpses of colour. Sometimes it's just good to see something different and not just the usual hollywood, formula type film.

I thought it was an excellent movie, took maybe 10 minutes to get into it, but after the first 10 minutes I couldn't look away for one second until the end.

Great Cast, Great Story, Great effects.

Would hate the effects to ever become a common feature in movies but for Sin City and for 300 I loved them and thought they really really worked.

One of my fave films, I actually went out and bought the novels after seeing just to see how faithful it was, which it is by the way, you can literally follow the comic with the film give or take a few scenes.
