Sims 3 weird disc problem please help?

I bought the sims 3 but whenever I put the disc in to install it nothing happens and there's nothing on my computer either. The dvd-drive works fine with everything else. But I looked at my disc and I can see the sillohests of the front of the disc. Is that normal or is my disc bad?
 
buy a new disc your game sound like it is messed up bad also dont put many scratched disks in your computer it can mess it up.
 
I had to same problem first off you might not have the required graphic installation because thats what happened to me it takes i believe a 230 mega pixel so i would check on that. Also it runs better with a dell insperon with reauiered updates.
