Sims 3 over writing troubles.?

I'm having the same problem. I even tried "save as" but that doesn't work either. The only options I can give you is either complain about the problem to EA or return the game and keep playing sims 2.

I Just built a gorgeous house and have been playing a family for a couple days. THAN my brother tried to play sims 3 and saved his family into the same town as mine. I went to play mine and my house is deleted and my family is in the menu bar thing. How did that happen? He swears he didnt delete them
I am CHOKED! So how do i save two families in one town with out deleting the other!
