Sims 2 University and Nightlife - Question about NPC I turned into a vampire?

I have a sim who lives in a college dorm and is a vampire. I bit an NPC who also lives in that dorm, and I was wondering if I have to watch and make sure he doesn't get killed by the sun? I know that if you invite a vampire to a community lot or to your house if said vampire lives elsewhere, they'll fly off when the sun comes up. But since this NPC is onscreen, can he get killed by the sun?
