Sims 2 gardening questions.....?

Ok first, I usually spray (and tend) my trees when the option is there, and they usually get better....but it almost seems like spraying the trees makes them worse before they get better. Does anyone else have this problem? It seems that spray isn't 100% good for the trees, because one time I had the option of spraying AND harvesting from a certain tree, and when I sprayed it, the healthy oranges turned into bland oranges.

Also, in order to gain garden club membership, do you have to have plots w/ veggies and/or trees? Or does a nicely furnished "garden" (with trees and flowers) cut it?

Spraying the tree temporarily lowers their quality. Get the gold gardening badge by doing lots of gardening and you'll get the option to talk to plants and trees. That helps alot.

For garden club membership you don't have to have a vegetable garden or fruit trees but you do need lots of bushes and flowers and garden furniture, lights, sculptures, fountains and that sort of thing. Avoid the pink flamingo, they don't like that one bit. ha!
