Simpsons On Channel 4. What happened to the new episodes?

I seem to remember when Sky One made a big fuss about that a few years ago when the Ricky Gervais episode aired, he said on the promos watch it on Sky One.... or on Channel 4 in 3 years time. Then Sky One ran out a promo saying that this infact was wrong and it was a 4 year gap.

Well Fox and Sky are both owned by News Corp, so...

Who Shot Mr Burns Part 1 was a season finale. It seems they skipped season 7 (part 2 is its premiere) that time - maybe Sky had the rights and not Channel 4.

Everyone says that but if they're paying for it, what's it to them? It's like when Sky One went off Virgin and the head of Virgin Media said "Never mind, the current series of Lost are crap, you're not missing anything". I don't want their views on it!

Channel Four famously paid millions and millions of pounRAB for The Simpsons and that was in 2003 when everyone says that the show was at its nadir, with the panda raping Homer, all that. Having paid all that money, they're not then going to decide they're not good enough. Commercially they can't make such a principled decision. They've got to show them and make their money back.

The reason Sky One are messing around with The Simpsons now is presumably so they can launch new shows on Sundays at 6.30, which has always been Sky One's best slot, and assume The Simpsons' loyal fanbase will watch it anywhere. But it's not working for me because it's still about a million times better than everything else on this awful channel.

I remember sitting down to watch The Simpsons evry Sunday night on Sky ONe, and how ocasionally they would air new episodes. Then they started airing Simpsons reruns all over the schedule and at all hours and t started to put me off.

I haven't sat down to watch The Simpsons in 10 years or so now. The good thing if I start to watch again, most reruns will be new to me lol
