Simpsons movie confirmed

Im not particuarly excited about this. The Simpsons used to be awesome, I used to watch it religiously, but if the movie is anything like the new episodes (and why shouldn't it be), then it will be rubbish.

I should be excited but with recent Simpsons episodes being sub-par and unfunny and in some cases totally random. They missed the boat in making a movie when the show was in its prime ala South Park, that movie came out at exactly the right time, it was the talk of the town, people were talking about it and it was really popular...had a South Park movie come out now I'd have some catching up to do since I haven't seen the show in years, what season are they in 6...7?

So, they would have to make this really funny for it to work, I hope they look back at some of their earlier seasons for ideas...very tough to be fresh with this show nowadays...Don't get me wrong I love the show but this movie could be great or could be really bad. But it'll do well coz its The Simpsons. :)

Most of the original writers are on board - which gives me a little bit of hope. However I still think it's going to be crap.

The rumoured plot-line posted above doesn't sound like a very promising premise for a movie does it? Homer messes up resulting in major consequences for Springfield genius!

Same old. Same old

i think they've missed the boat now, if they did it early on in it's prime like around seasons 4-8ish, then it might have been great

south park did something like that and that was a great movie, and if they made a movie now, 10 seasons in, it probably wouldn't have been as good

I still enjoy "The Simpsons" a lot, but I do agree that on average it's not as good as it was 10 years ago.

"South Park" however, is better now than it was early on, mostly because of how satire based it now is. The South Park movie is amazing, but I', sure that if they made another it would be just as good.

Anyway, looking forward to this movie, it's been in preproduction for a long while now so here's hoping they've got a good script, just still a huge shame it couldn't have been made during Phil Hartman's lifetime.

Hey that is exactly what I was thinking.

By the way, I would bet a large amount of money that instead of having a red carpet at the premiere they have a YELLOW carpet. teehee!

Also it would be funny if some kid who was a huge Simpsons fan was desperate to see the film but his father punished him for some misdeed the kid did by not letting him see the film, then many years later when the father is an old man and the kid is a high-court judge they go and see the film. WARNING: THAT SENTENCE ONLY MADE SENSE IF YOU ARE A SIMPSONS FAN.

South Park is on it's 10th season and as strong as ever IMO.

Agree about The Simpsons movie though, the series only occasionally approaches the standarRAB of the first 6 or 7, if they have run out of ideas for the shows what hope does the film have? Perhaps the change of format might give it a new lease of life

Matt Groening did say earlier this week that they are going to be flooding the net with false storylines and plots to try and keep the real one a secret... so I expect it could well be bogus.
