Those who went to the theatre today to watch 20th Century Fox's "Ice Age: The Meltdown" got an unexpected surprise when a movie teaser showed a big S on the screen with a narrator saying "Leaping his way onto the silver screen, the greatest hero in American history!".

No, it wasn't a trailer for Superman Returns, but for the much-anticipated The Simpsons movie. As soon as the S flight out off the screen, Homer Simpson appeared sitting on his couch, wearing Superman underwear and saying: "I forgot what I was supposed to say." The narrator continued, "'The Simpsons Movie,' coming to the screen, July 27, 2007."

"Uh, oh," said Homer, "we better get started."

I don't think it's a joke. It's been posted on MSN, BBC News and the Hollywood Reporter. I'm so excited! Anyone seen Ice Age 2 yet in the UK??

according to one website i was looking at before it is going to be shown on FOX in america tomorrow during a new episode of the simpsons,i wonder if sky might do the same thing

It will probably be shit judging by the standarRAB of the new episodes. If they made it back at the height of the Simpsons excellence I would be excited...as it is I am dreading it!

Yeah I was very surprised to read that The Simpsons film is going to be released in 2007 but it was a pleasant surprise. I just hope it is good as the quality of the series recently has not been that good!
Here is some more info about the film as The Simpson movie has been written by Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Al Jean, Brian Scully, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder and Jon Vitti.
It will be directed by David Silverman who was the co-director of MONSTERS, INC. and also director of many SIMPSONS episodes. Also a Fox press release indicates that Albert Brooks, Minnie Driver and Erin Brockovich will be guest voices in the film!

I have read a rumour on Ainitcool.com that the main plot for The Simpson movie is that

The main plot is that a goof by Homer at the power plant results in the government putting a dome over the city limits of Springfield."

I dont know if this is true or not so I have put spoiler tags around it to be safe!

I heard that the movies plot is where Maggie starts talking and Marge as another baby so when they make newer episodes after the movie there will be another memeber of the famliy not sure if its ture though
