suppose i want to play something pre-recorded, and i want to use the computer speaker as a speaker, a switch as triggering device.. and the p2 plug receiver, or the component where you plug the speaker jack?

i need this for my experiment, please help me learn..i know how to build a simple electronics, though im just a noob engineering student.. but i just can't imagine how the speakers work? it has 2 terminals right? for positive and negative, isn't that for power? where can i connect the audio that the speaker will play? figured out the best way to understand these simple things is to use a computer speaker, and utilize the jack, im just after the logic behind how can i play an audio to the speaker? as well as build a circuit that uses the computer speaker... help.. thanks
