Simple quick-fix Photoshop question?

Try the Caps Lock. If the caps lock is accidentally on-it will turn the key into a "+".

If that is not the case...perhaps the circle is far too large (and appearing outside the view). To check for this, try hitting the " [ " key until the circle is small enough to see.
 
I'm a frequent user of Photoshop. But for some reason, the circle that usually appears when I use tools like Eraser, Smudge, Burn, Sharpen, or Blur has disappeared. It's hard to edit when I can't see how wide my diameter of my editing tool is.
Did I click something on accident? How do I get the circle back?
