SIM Compatability i730 to i850,860

I just broke my i730 yesterday and was looking to get an i850 or 860 on ebay. Will the sim card be compatable? Should i get a new one? Should i get an unlocked phone (does it matter)?And should i contact nextel about this? Is buying a cell phone on ebay sketchy?

OK too many questions....any feedback would be appreciated.

I have boughten a cellphone of ebay. I didn't have any problems with it.
Things that you will want to do.

1.Ask seller for imei or serial number
2.call nextel and see if that phone is registerable or if its stolen (Unless you don't have insurance or service on your plan then it doesnt really matter).
3.You only need it unlocked if you want to use a boost sim card in a nextel phone or a nextel sim in a boost phone.
4. Your sim card is compatable in both of those phones.
5. Get the i860 its a LOT better phone.
6. You don't need to contact nextel unless you want to register it in your name.
7. When buying don't buy from a person that has like 2 feedback buy from a powerseller and make sure that you use paypal.
 
Your response was very good, I just want to add, although not important to the subject at hand, but you can put a boost sim into any nextel phone without having to do anything else, there is no unlocking process for that, only if you go the other way around.
 
wow man...thanks for the response...it was ultra helpful..although i did end up winning an auction for an i860 before i read this...my only paranoia now is if the phone is stolen or not and that i bought from a guy with 4 feedback...hell..i guess ill just hope for the best

no problem, even if it is stolen, it just means that if you pay for a service plan or insurance it won't cover it. So if you pay for those now either sell the phone and buy a different one or just cancel those off your plan. Stolen phones are all over ebay, you can't really get introuble for buying one.
